Accept Yourself Every Day

It’s such a simple concept to accept who you are and appreciate all that is real about yourself. When you take steps toward self-appreciation and self-acceptance, you will find others appreciate you in return. It doesn’t cost anything, and it is the right thing to do. You are unique, and everyone should celebrate that about themselves and in others.

Celebrate Yourself

When you are grateful for just being who you are, you can open your heart with forgiveness for past mistakes and become grateful for other aspects of your life. Be grateful for your health, family, friends, and personal capabilities.  An attitude of gratitude will attract others with a similar spirit. By contrast, people who are not grateful often repel others away or surround themselves with those who are similarly averse to gratitude.

Life is short and sometimes painfully so. During the time you have, why not appreciate what you have? Think of the positives in your life. I celebrate daily that my family loves you, and great friends are easily accessible through today’s technology. My job is going well and affords me with the ability to enjoy my hobbies — traveling, blogging, writing eBooks, and photography, to name a few.

Self-Care through Travel

The routine of daily living can sometimes hinder your view of self. Travel is a wonderful way to break the routine, meet new people, explore different cultures, and gain a new perspective on what’s right in your life. Whether your travel is to a new museum in a nearby town or an expedition thousands of miles from your house, step outside of your comfort zone and find the magic of new experiences.

When I decided to take deliberate steps to break my routine, I discovered a true joy in travel writing for magazines, newspapers and online publications. This is a very enriching hobby and I’ve even participated in education sessions to pay forward the generosity of my mentors at Great Escapes Publishing, including this Podcast session on Great Escapes Radio.

Accept Imperfections

The flaws in life help you learn and define who you are. You should try to correct any habits or imperfections that are harmful to yourself or others. But, you don’t have to change everything about yourself, no matter your current situation, and neither should you want to.

Resist the urge to pretend to be someone you are not. You can’t maintain that pretense for the long-term and finding your authentic self is a beautiful treasure in life. Become childlike and toss away the burdens while discovering interesting new paths for each tomorrow.

Tips for Positivity

As I travel, I create daily affirmations about who I am and how my life has a purpose. This method breaks through any fears and self-doubts and then adds to the joy of the travel experience. The difficulties of navigation from place to place become less of a burden when handled with a graceful spirit and a dose of humor.

Always consider what you are grateful for, especially all the little aspects of your life.

You will win daily success by using your gratefulness as a tool.

Align yourself with people who are grateful for what they have and have a positive attitude.  Most importantly, BE that person for those around you.

Irish Blessing for the Traveler

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
